Covington: Attack on Dana White about more than just title shot — ‘He has no morals or values’
In case you missed his little meltdown on Monday (read it here), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight No. 1 contender, Colby Covington, is furious with promotion president, Dana White.
On the surface, it would appear “Chaos” is miffed that fellow title hopeful, Kamaru Usman, was able to score a 170-pound title shot, despite the fact that Covington was holding the interim strap and promised the next crack at Tyron Woodley.

But in a follow-up interview with MMA Junkie Radio, the fighter affectionately known as “Duckington” revealed that his disdain for White goes beyond title shots or corporate decisions, because the Las Vegas fight boss has “no morals or values.”
“I don’t really have a relationship with Dana White, and I don’t give a (expletive) about him,” Covington said. “He’s cashing out. He made all the money off the fans, all the fans that built this sport, and they sold for $4 billion. And the reason the sport even is what it is is because of Lorenzo. So Dana hasn’t even done anything. He (was) just Lorenzo’s little check boy. He holds his coat for him and stuff. Dana’s already cashed out. He got all that money, and he let it get to his head. He’s a piece of (expletive) person, and he has no morals or values.”
Fertitta is actually the one who cashed out, since White stuck around after UFC was sold to Endeavor for $4 billion back in summer 2016. In his continued role as head cheese, White and his cronies helped secure a new broadcast deal with ESPN.

According to White, the No. 2-ranked Usman was given the next welterweight title shot because Covington turned down his chance to fight Woodley last fall, a main event that eventually went to the unsuccessful Darren Till.
Now it’s Woodley vs. Usman for all the marbles at UFC 235, with the winner moving on to fight “Chaos” later this year, assuming White and Co. don't get fed up with Covington’s smear campaign in the process and call this bluff.
Time will tell.
