Ali Abdelaziz, manager to current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, recently stated that fighting Tony Ferguson next wasn’t in the cards since “El Cucuy” simply wasn’t a big-money attraction.

But according to “The Eagle’s” response to a fan on social media regarding the claim, the champ seems to have taken issue with the stance, saying at the end of the day, he is the fighter and Ali the manager.

Of course, a fight between Khabib and Ferguson has been booked on several occasions, only to have it fall through each and every single time. I mean it’s always something. That prompted UFC president Dana White to says he’d never try to book that matchup again.

But after Khabib took care of “Notorious” and Ferguson did the same to Anthony Pettis, it seems trying for lucky number five is the only way to go. There is always Dustin Poirier, but if both Ferguson and Khabib are healthy, and both men are eager to settle their differences once and for all, it’s at least worth a shot.
